Seizure alarms are a marvelous aid to alert your family and friends who are living with you of when you are having a grand mal (tonic clonic) seizure. However if your are living on you own, nominated people can be alerted by telephone of when your seizure alarm has been activated
There are different types of seizure alarms:
Seizure alarms for your bed. These detect unusual movements in you and activate the said alarm.
Alarms that trigger off an alarm for when you have fallen down.
In addition to the above, Safety pillows allow you to breathe should you be lying down face down into a pillow, whilst you are having a seizure.
You might be able to get some monetary contribution from the Social Services in the UK.
In the UK seizure alarms can be, where applicable VAT free.
Here in the UK different borough councils have immediate response telephone services that are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In addition to this Seizure alarm beds can be made available, (but only where you meet their said criteria), through your local Social Services. The area where I live, Linkline is the name of my immediate response team. Here they also operate a service called ‘Telecare’ which is for those requiring Seizure bed alarms.
